Overview
MoodFlix is a mood-based movie and show discovery app. You pick a mood and who you're watching with, and MoodFlix shows you titles that fit — with detail pages, trailers, cast info, reviews, and a watchlist.
MoodFlix does not require you to create an account, does not run ads, and does not use any analytics or advertising SDKs. The short version:
What we collect
MoodFlix's own servers collect nothing — there is no MoodFlix backend. The app talks directly from your device to the services listed in Third-party services below to fetch movie and show data.
We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or location. The "Tap to set your name" field in your profile is optional, stored only on your device, and never transmitted anywhere.
What stays on your device
MoodFlix uses your device's local storage
(shared_preferences)
to remember your choices between sessions. None of this leaves your
device or is visible to us:

Uninstalling the app deletes all of this immediately, since it never existed anywhere but your device.
Third-party services
MoodFlix's catalog, ratings, cast info, reviews, and trailers are sourced live from The Movie Database (TMDB). Opening the app or searching sends a request to TMDB's API containing only what's needed to fetch that data (e.g. a search term or title ID) — never your name, device ID, or location.
- Tapping "View on IMDb" or a streaming provider's "Watch on …" button opens that service in your browser or its own app, subject to that service's own privacy policy.
- Tapping a trailer opens YouTube, subject to YouTube's privacy policy.
- The Share button hands a title's info to your device's native share sheet — whatever app you choose there handles it under its own policy.
This app uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Permissions
MoodFlix requests Internet access only — needed to fetch catalog data from TMDB. It does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location, storage, or any other device permission.
Children's privacy
MoodFlix does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect personal information at all. Movie and show content shown in the app is sourced from TMDB and may include titles with varying content ratings — please use your judgement on age-appropriateness the same way you would with any catalog app.
Retention & deletion
Since nothing is stored outside your device, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. To remove all MoodFlix data, uninstall the app, or clear the app's storage from your device's system settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of MoodFlix adds accounts, cloud sync, or analytics — the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated and, for material changes, noted in the app's Play Store release notes.
